Through the Vitro network, Vitro America offers laminated glass which is constructed by bonding a polyvinyl butyral (PVB) plastic interlayer between two pieces of glass under heat and pressure to form a single piece of glass. Laminated glass can be made using many combinations of clear, tinted, translucent, or reflective glass. Various colors and types of inter-layers may be used as well.
Laminated glass provides significant sound control characteristics, effectively blocking out unwanted noise. In addition to sound control, laminated glass resists penetration and forced entry, while screening out the sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays.
When laminated glass is broken, the glass particles adhere to the vinyl interlayer, reducing the risk of shattering glass. Laminated glass tends to stay in the opening, securing it.
